Brinley Addington Interview

Brinley Addington HUNKSrHANDBAGS

Recently I had the pleasure of interviewing Brinley Addington an up and coming country singer. I went to the show he opened for Chris Young at Joe’s Bar in Chicago. I have since purchased his Homegrown album and really do like it! I hope to see him again maybe even head lining his own show! Here are some of the questions I was able to ask him:

Me: What is the hardest thing about being on the road?

Brinley: The hardest thing about being on the road is missing out on normal weekends I think. I love playing more than anything and I love traveling and seeing new places, but when you hear your friends back home are watching a ball game or hitting a movie or something, it makes you want to be home.

Me: What is the first thing you want to do when you get back from a long trip?

Brinley: A shower. Ha!

Me: What is your favorite food – on the road and something only your Mom or Grandma can make?

Brinley: On the road, I’d say Chick-Fil-A. When I’m back home, my mom makes a great spaghetti dish I really like.

Me: Can you cook? What is your favorite thing to make?

Brinley: I’m not much of a cook, but I can grill a little. Steaks are my specialty on the grill.

Me: What’s your favorite movie or movies? (I know I couldn’t pick just one)

Brinley: That’s a tough one. I love all kinds of movies. I like really deep, thought provoking movies and at the same time, really dumb, funny movies. Shawshank Redemption, Step Brothers, A Beautiful Mind, and The Green Mile are a few favorites but I can’t pick one.

Me: It’s a rainy day in Tennessee what is your favorite thing to do?

Brinley: Watch a movie or take a long nap.

Me: What is the best concert you have ever been too?

Brinley: I would say Brad Paisley’s show. I’ve seen probably five shows of Brad’s and they are consistently awesome.

Me: Who was the first person you met that you look up to in the music world?

Brinley: A songwriter named Steve Leslie was really the first Nashville person to really believe in me and gave me some great advice that I still apply to this day. Great writer and friend.

Me: How did you get to be connected with Chris Young?

Brinley: Chris and I have the same business manager and she introduced us and eventually let Chris hear some of my music and we ended up working together.

Me: Have you been promoting yourself or did you get signed to a label?

Brinley: For the past six years or so, I’ve been doing things almost completely independently.

Me: What was your favorite activity to do as a kid indoors and out?

Brinley: I’ve always loved fishing. It’s very peaceful.

Me: What advice would you give to someone who wants to have a career in music?

Brinley: To go at it with all you’ve got. It won’t happen if you’re just sitting around waiting on something to fall in your lap. And don’t take “No,” for an answer.

Me: What is your favorite song from you Homegrown album?

Brinley: Probably “As Long As You Love Me.” That one means a lot to me and a lot of people tell me they really connect to it.

Me: If you could go on a dream vacation where would you go?

Brinley: I’d like to go to Italy at some point. Just sounds like a cool place.

Me: What is your goal for 2013?

Brinley: To keep writing, recording, and performing to the best of my ability and to play for more and more people.

Thanks again to Brinley for taking the time to answer some questions. For more information about Brinley or to see his upcoming tour dates please visit his website here.

Chris Young – Brinley Addington at Joe’s Bar on Weed St.

I had the pleasure of going to Joe’s Bar on Weed St. to see Chris Young and he brought a new artist named Brinley Addington. Since listening to Brinley I have purchased his CD on iTunes and can’t wait to listen to all of his songs. Joe’s is one of those places that you can get very close to a performer and it is general admission so everyone has an equal chance. The doors opened at 7pm and we arrived around 6:45pm. The valet parking was a breeze and cheap too! $12 for city parking is great in my book!
