King and Prince Resort – St. Simons GA

Show me the SUN! I think I was kept in the Chicago weather for too long! A little sun can go a very long way with me! I am currently staying at The King and Prince resort in St. Simons, GA. I stayed here once before and everything about this cute little island is still the same! Beautiful Ocean views, Family Friendly, Coastal Living. Weather you are looking for a place to stay for a weekend getaway or somewhere to spend those cold winter months away from Old Man Winter this is the place. Located about an hour south of Savannah, GA and about 5 hours from Atlanta, GA. I personally drove from Atlanta and it was a nice drive not a lot of traffic on the road and it can be done in 1 day and get here early enough to have a nice relaxing dinner! Last time I was here I stayed in the historic main building, this time I am in a Villa that  is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with a full kitchen, living room and balcony with a great view of the ocean.

The things I look for in a hotel are the small little touches that can make your stay that much more relaxing. Everything from the small little mints they leave on your pillow to having a washer and dryer and a wine bottle opener in the kitchen. You would not believe the hotels I have stayed in over the years that don’t have those things. Sometime I even throw a wine bottle opener into my suit case since I always end up buying one if the hotel doesn’t supply it. Also each room has decorative pieces there for nothing more that pure enjoyment.

Shedd Aquarium – Chicago

This weekend I had the pleasure to visit the Shedd Aquarium located in Chicago, IL. It was a fun filled exciting day! I took my nephew Chris with me and we had so much FUN! We started the day out walking around to all of the exhibits on the main floor. The Caribbean Reef, Amazon Rising, Oceans, Local Waters, Islands and Lakes and Rivers.

The Caribbean Reef tank!

Next we went down stairs to the Abbott Oceanarium and the Polar Play Zone. After getting the lay of the land we decided to wait in line a little early for the Aquatic show that was starting at 12:00. Man was it worth it! We ended up in the front row and got to see the penguins up close and personal!

Aquatic Show

After the show we decided to have some lunch! Bubble Net food court was where we went. The food was surprisingly inexpensive. Chris had pizza and I had a chicken sandwich all for under $20.00. Our next adventure was to the 4-D movie! We saw Ice-Age. It was really fun and it made me jump in my seat a few times!

Were ready for the 4-D show!

The Jellies were the last exhibit on our list and we saved the best for last! I was always intrigued with Jelly fish but I never took the time to see how majestic they were.

Here are a few tips that I would recommend to anyone planning a trip to Shedd Aquarium. Go with the Valet parking its worth the extra $6.00. Also make sure to buy your tickets in advance it will cut your wait time in half at least.
