Fitbit Charge HR

A few months ago I started to notice a lot of my friends talking about their Fitbits and how they liked them and the info they provided. I am NOT a person who likes to workout AT ALL! If anything I can say that I hate it but I could stand to get into a little bit better shape. Or as Scott says he just wants me to live as long as he does. I did some research and read a few blogs about how they work and what they do. Not knowing if this was something that I would even like or use I decided to purchase a used Fitbit Flex on eBay. It was about half the price of a new one at $50. I wore that for about 2 months and was really happy with the results.

They have a very interactive app that lets you see your stats in real time. The Flex only shows you 5 lights on the display to see your progress for the day. With the app you are able to see your steps, distance, calories and active minutes. Something else that I really liked was the interaction and competition it promotes with your friends. They have Goal Days, Workweek Showdowns and also Weekend Worrier challenges along with showing you how you are doing compared to your friends.

After walking 30 miles in 3 days and following my friend Melissa who had a Charge HR I knew I needed to make an investment and get the more advanced unit. Once again they do have other options higher than this but I still wasn’t sure I needed all of those options. Her steps we counted more accurately always 3,000 to 5,000 more than me even though we were walking side by side for 3 days. After coming back I purchased my Charge HR with a $150.00 price tag I was slightly unsure I needed something so expensive but I have to say I am THRILLED with how much it has improved my experience. The step tracking is so much better! For example before with the Flex my hand would need to have the full motion of walking to count the steps. Today I was carrying a case of beer into the house and my wrist started buzzing to let me know that I hit my step goal for the day when my hand wasn’t even truly in motion.

The biggest complaint I have with the unit since receiving it last week is the “Water Resistant” label and the fact that its not recommended for use in water, IE. a shower or swimming. They say that it is fine for normal activities like washing your hands and the sweat that’s going to form.

Overall if you are looking for a device to track your daily activity and get you a little extra competition from your friends this is the device for you. I always like to share how things work or sometimes don’t work for me. My opinions are my own.
