Ambrosia Sushi – Key West

Tonight for dinner I decided to check out Ambrosia located here in Key West. It’s a sushi restaurant inside the Santa Maria hotel off Simonton St. and South St. I will tell you to make reservation if you do not want to sit at the bar. It seems to be a very popular place to eat. I started off with Miso soup and was delighted for find that they add mushrooms to it as well as the traditional tofu and seaweed.

One of my favorite rolls to eat is the Shrimp Tempura. I decided to try theirs and see how it would compare to sushi places back in Chicago. I am happy to report that these guys know what they are doing and the roll just might have been better than the ones at home. The shrimp was fresh, the masago was in there and also the avocado.

Next I decided to try the Chef Sashimi Sampler and they hit it out of the park just with presentation alone.

Overall I would recommend this place. Great find off Duval St. Sometimes it can get a little overwhelming with the large amount of restaurants on this tiny island. I have tried quite a few but still have many on my list.

As always, Peace – LOVE and Tweeting!

This weekend we attended the 24th Annual Minimal Regatta in Key West, Hosted my the Schooner Wharf Bar. It was sure a sight to see! The teams were required to construct their boats from the following supplies: 1 Sheet 4×8 1/4 plywood, 2- 2×4 pieces of lumber, 1 pound of fasteners, 1 roll of duct tape and no caulking or adhesives can be used.

Each team seemed to have a theme and costumes to match their boat. It was a lot of fun. I hope to remember this event for next year so I can attend again. They even gave away a prize for the fastest sinking boat and it took about 3 seconds!
