Well it was quite the adventure but we finally have our place in Washington. Tomorrow marks a month since we left Key West with our car packed up and ready to start our new life in Washington. 5 hours into our road trip my husband hydroplaned and we were left with a totaled car, half our stuff ruined and the worry that we were never going to make it to Washington. After spending half the day getting the car towed out of the water and hotel to sleep in that night I started tying to figure out our plans. We ended up renting a car and driving it Boise, ID. That was the first place my car could be dropped off since it was being shipped from Key West. We had an awesome 2 day stop in New Orleans and then drove all the way to Salt Lake City. It was a crazy 36 hours but since my husband and I are still alive and well it was worth it. I will also warn anyone driving in the middle of New Mexico and Idaho before the sun comes up to watch out for cops! I was pulled over not once but twice during our little trip. Both times I was given a warning but in my opinion it was a waste of time! I was only going 77mph in a 70mph zone! Just something else to add to the story we tell years later about how we survived everything that was thrown our direction and we are still here to talk about it.
This photo is one of my personal favorites from the trip. We were outside of Dallas just starting our longest leg of the trip and I was supposed to be sleeping but I couldn’t fall asleep so I started taking photos of the sun set. Man did they pay off! This was taken while driving 75mph on a random highway in Texas.
Before we continued onto Washington we had the opportunity to visit Scott’s family in Idaho again. It was supposed to be getting cold but we took advantage of this beautiful day and drove around the mountains with the top down!
