Food and Beverage

Show me the food …

I’m going to be wearing my stretchy pants all weekend for the Seattle Wine & Food Experience! Well maybe just some super cute leggings …. If you’re anything like me, you’re on board with everything having to do with food or wine. So get ready to get excited, because the Seattle Wine & Food Experience is back and better than ever! With four days to choose from (or the first three with a weekend pass), there is something for everyone. I have the weekend pass and I think the POP! Bubbles & Seafood event is going to be my favorite!

And yes …. I think this is EXACTLY what I will look when I find the seafood!

Paint Night

Well some of you might know that the new craze all around town is there Paint and Pinot nights at local bars and restaurants. My friends and I saw one advertised for one of the local breweries and we decided to give it a try! Well let me start off by saying I have absolutely NO artistic experience but I have done this once before when I lived in Key West and my turtle actually looked like a turtle once I was done. This night we were supposed to be painting Koi fish … simple enough right? No this is the story of how I started out trying to paint some fish and ended with something that you would use for a funny meme or firewood … I might go for the firewood part. The beer was good and they kept it flowing … maybe one of my other problems…. but I was not the only person with a not so cute painting to take home. I can say that I would go back to the brewery but maybe just to try some beers and I will leave the painting to the professionals.

I guess ya’ll would like to see the finished product huh … I warned you!

Birthday Cup Cakes

A friend of mine had a birthday last week and I decided to break out some of my baking and decorating skills. In the past I have taken the Wilton classes for cake decorating but have not used the tools in a really long time! I decided to try and make some cute cup cakes for my friend Talia and I think they came out pretty cool! I used super simple funfetti box cake mix and just bought the matching icing. I colored the icing with the Wilton gel and a toothpick. Note to self the pink I bought is really pink! My friend and I were joking that I made cupcakes for Barbie with how bright the pink was. I had a mold for some mini cakes and they ended up being really small so I cut the top off the cupcakes to make them level and used the star tip and an icing bag to pipe on a little design.

I had some left over batter and had already used what I needed for my mini cakes and cup cakes. I decided to try and make a small cake with a flower cookie cutter that I had in a cabinet. I put down some aluminum foil just in case the batter was going to leak out of the bottom and make a huge mess but it stayed in there very well to my surprise. I peeled off the foil and I had a cute little flower to decorate. Note to self if you are going to try this I would use some kind of nonstick spray on the cookie cutter to make it easier to get the mini cake out.
