Red Oxx

I don’t normally write posts for a company but Red Oxx is doing all of the right things! Reasons include hand making all their products right here in the United States.  They make sure that their community is majorly involved by throwing awesome community events like Oxx Fest. And they treat their employees well and are family friendly.  I was attending TBEX or Travel Blog Exchange for those of you not in my travel blogger circle. This was a local company that decided to join a global conference that just happened to be stopping in their home town. I went to the factory the first day I was in town and they were really busy getting ready for the big conference!  Then I went back later in the week and started talking to some of the employees.

The smallest employee is my favorite …. but I think she steals everyone’s heart. Being a photographer I tend to find other photographers and Karen’s assistant was the best! Karen is the in house photographer for Red Oxx and she gets to bring her baby girl with her to work everyday!

Here she is helping photograph their newest bag “The Hound” which I picked up while I was there and I will be carrying all around London and Paris. I also picked up “The CPA”  for all my carry on    needs and It holds my 15 inch Macbook Pro, iPad, 2 camera bodies and 3 lenses – all with a drink on the side. Then, depending on if it is a day where I’m giving a tour at the prison or taking a 4 day quick trip to Seattle I also picked up “The Roadster Mini”. I stuffed everything I needed for a 4 day trip and carried both on the plane without an issue. Depending on the airline sometimes its better to know that your bags will fit into that small little space above the seat on a regional jet.

Windy City LIVE

The historic Chicago theater across the street from the studio.

Last week I had the opportunity to visit the set for Windy City LIVE and also be in the audience for the show. Whether you are a resident of the City of Chicago or a tourist visiting YOU can also do the same thing! I have been in the audience for shows in the past but man has the game changed on how it all works! First of all is that its all done via an app that you download called 1iota. Weird name I know but my Aunt Linda told me about it when she was here in Chicago visiting family. She has used it to be in the audience for various shows in the Los Angeles area. To download the app just type the name 1iota in the app store and it should come up. Once you register you can see all the different cities and shows.

After you get a notification that you have a reserved ticket for the show you will arrive and wait in line until 11:30am when they start the process to get people checked in and through security. You are allowed to bring your camera and take as many photos as you would like. They actually encourage it for their social media. At 12:30 you are then led into the studio and seated by the shows staff. I ended up sitting in the front row but I will say that studio is pretty small and the audience can’t be more than 75 people.

The shows director I’m assuming then comes out and talks to you for a bit, he is trying to make the audience feel more comfortable and looking happy to be there. The hosts come out and read a short 15 second monologue to talk about whats coming up on the show. We were there for about an hour and a half total but they also asked at the end about us staying to film another segment for a show at a later date. They ask more in the hey … your sitting here and we are going to film this and your not really going to leave until we are done. I say that because I want you to know that you are on the show and production staff’s time. If you would like to know more about the process you can also check out their website here for more audience info. 1iota.com/show/388/Windy-City-LIVE

Revolution Pizza Music – RPM

As I was walking around Seattle today looking for a place to have lunch I stumbled upon this new pizza joint in Pioneer Square! It was great! From the superb service to the vintage music I was already impressed. I ordered 2 slices … how can you limit me to one choice? I got the margarita and pesto! Yes I said pesto! I didn’t ever think to put in on a pizza but now I sure will! Can we say YUM! I loved them but they were for sure different!

From what I understand they just opened last month and are still pretty new to the area. I can say that I will for sure be back! The pizza was delish, the service and atmosphere was what will keep me coming back!

More about them ….

RPM is a celebration of two great things, Pizza and Music. The music culture of Seattle is a special beast, a mixture of dark winter days, beautiful alpine vistas, the cold salty ocean and global influences create a sound you can’t find anywhere else. That “sound” has defined this region in the past and continues to do so today.

RPM was conceived by Harvey Ward Van Allen and Duffy De Armas to be a haven where local music, past and present, could be center stage in a neighborhood deeply rooted in the heritage of Seattle’s music scene. Good tunes paired with tasty slices and cold beer creates an instant classic, one that feels like it’s been here the whole time.

Harvey Ward Van Allen brought Casco Antiguo to Pioneer Square and now Tacoma, Duffy De Armas is one the owners of Electric Coffin and proprietor of the Piranha Shop event space.

“Our goal is to serve the best pizza in town, at an affordable price, available by the slice, and open late, as well as great pizza served up with the coldest beer in the neighborhood. We’ll have Salad and Wine too…

On top of great food and drinks, we will be supporting Seattle’s music culture through selling local records, hosting live music, and promoting bands through the restaurant.”
