Lester, Washington

Since I am still new to Washington and this is my first Summer here I look for FUN things to do in my time off. My friends and I read an article about a town call Lester and that it was abandon, we thought it could be an interesting adventure. Well an adventure is sure what we got! Not only was the town torn down 2 years ago … it was also almost a 3 hour drive to get there! We made the best of the day and had blast just exploring our new state. It was a very pretty place to visit … but not exactly what we were looking for.

That was what we found … a whole bunch of NO TRESPASSING signs and a very nice police man making sure we didn’t go past the lines ….

This was the only thing that actually told us we were in Lester. My friends wondered why we didn’t find the town we were promised. The sad part is the article was written last year …. I’m guessing they didn’t actually go there they just took some photos off the internet.

And this was the only thing that looked like it could have belong to the town… everything else was missing! Here is the link to how we found out about the town. www.onlyinyourstate.com

Note to self … when you Google an old abandon ghost town … click on the FULL Wikipedia link … Because we read this …. “Lester was a small town near Stampede Pass, just south of Snoqualmie Pass in King County, founded in 1892 by the Northern Pacific Railway. Lester is located along what is currently National Forest Development Road 54.” This fun little nugget was not included in the preview … “It was one of the few ghost towns in the U.S. state of Washington. It was destroyed in 2017.” Thanks Wikipedia

After publishing a photographer friend of mine sent me some photos she took with there last November! Check them out here! flickr.com/photos

Seattle Wildflowers

Some people might be surprised that we can find wild flowers in the most random places … even in downtown Seattle!

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I spotted this patch when I was walking from the ferry to the field.

Washington State Ferry

Commuting can be FUN! I know your thinking I’m crazy but really “Why not?” I get to sit on the boat, relax, surf the internet and write fun little blog posts too! And maybe a few episodes of Netflix in there too since we got a new phone carrier and that unlimited data is calling my name. I like the view and the possible wildlife sightings. I have yet to see a whale but I do get to take some amazing photos!

Some of these waterfront homes make my heart swoon and I wish I could live in a house with a view like that! You know you are used to your commute when you start to recognize and know the ferry workers. I did make a friend out of all this too! I just need the weather to get a little nicer and a little bit more sunny and I will be a kid in a candy store out on the sun deck.
